Girotondo Italian Academy Preschool and Pre-K is a full immersion Italian
language school - Reggio Emilia inspired-
Classrooms & curriculum are designed to have an Italian atmosphere with
a warm and cozy environment. At the school we create conditions that allow
social interactions to occur naturally, which have the added benefit of
making the transition into our program easy for children.
Girotondo Italian Academy operates Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
and we offer Family-style organic lunches & snacks. Click

Our Teacher-to-Child ratio is 1:6/ 1:8. Thanks to our excellent teacher-to-child
ratio, each child can work to emphasize his/her own strengths and maximize
his/her potentialities.
We trust and treat our children as individuals. We respect the way they
want to express themselves mentally, emotionally, physically and socially.
A teacher at Girotondo Italian Academy is a teacher-researcher, a resource
and a guide. Within such a teacher-researcher role, educators carefully
listen, observe, and document children's work and the growth of community
in the classroom. Our teachers strive to provoke, co-construct, and stimulate
the children's thinking, while fostering collaboration with peers.
At Girotondo Italian Academy we provide a balance between teacher-initiated
and child-initiated activities. We plan activities that are developmentally
appropriate by age and by our students’ individual interests.
Our goals are:
- To build an Italian/American community where children can find new peers with whom to share their Italian language skills.
- To facilitate and help children become the primary protagonist in their learning
- To create and maintain an environment in which children are recognized, respected and responded to based on their individuality and uniqueness.
- To provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that is physically, cognitively and psychologically safe.
- To capitalize on children’s inherent curiosity and self-motivation to learn.
